The new zoo typified by Virginia Zoological Park recreates the wild as a way of managing natural resources, protecting and preserving rare species in a natural environment. After multi-million dollar capital campaigns built an African grasslands and other high-profile exhibits, the zoo introduced this new public treasure the old-fashioned way – by inviting everyone to come see the new neighbors and their kids. Or pups, or kits, or joeys, or whatever.
